Bass Guitar is a fun instrument, and although it is similar to a standard guitar, the role of playing bass guitar is its own craft. Learn the fundamentals of what will set you down the right path to start playing as soon as possible. Make your own bass lines, figure out chord changes, read charts, understand arpeggios, rhythm and groove, various right hand techniques, and learn to play all of your favorite songs.
Ukulele is like a little guitar, except it is not a guitar it is an ukulele. Learn Strum patterns and techniques, learn chords, play to your favorite tunes, and get to know about your instrument. this is a great instrument to play with groups, friends and family.
My first guitar was a tennis racquet (I tried to take off all the strings except 6, but it just didn't sound right!) My second guitar turned out to be a bass guitar.
(It is what it is, but what it definitely wasn't was what I thought it was.) My third guitar was a very cheap and extremely hard to play. (But it was a Guitar).
The point is, I wanted to play guitar so bad that nothing was going to stop me. With the support of family, teachers, and friends, I practiced, studied, worked hard, and eventually got my dream guitar under my fingers.
I have studied and played music for over 3 decades with over 15 years of experience teaching guitar. I have been featured on Tech TV as guitarist spokesperson for Guitar-War, a world-wide on-line guitar competition, and have had the privilege to open for and/or share the stage with acts such as
James Taylor, Styx, The Doobie Brothers, Fog Hat, Quiet Riot, Willie Nelson, Joe Bonnamassa, Robben Ford, Gary Hoey, and Sonny Landreth.
I love teaching and helping anyone interested in learning music and helping them reach their individual goals and bring out the best in them.
Do you or someone you know want to learn to play the drums? Well, now is your chance to get private one-on-one instruction on drums or percussion from an experienced teacher and drum educator. No matter your age or musical experience, it is never too late to start playing the drums!
Students will play in a one-on-one setting in our Musication Labs lesson studio in downtown Redlands, over Skype, Google Hangouts, or by special arrangement in student's homes. Basic reading, notation, technique, and counting will be taught, as well as studies of different music styles and drumming beliefs. We encourage those closest to the student to be supportive and help them achieve their drumming goals. Practice is a necessary part of our instruction program and imperative for growth, so please, be prepared to practice.
I specialize in beginning and intermediate drum lessons for all ages and ability levels. In my 25 plus years teaching drums and percussion lessons, I have had students from 4 to 66 years of age and am comfortable teaching all drummers.
As a certified elementary school teacher, with a B.S. degree in Education, I believe instrumental instruction can greatly increase a child's probability for success. Studying an instrument in a private instruction setting helps develop discipline and creative thought. It has been shown time and time again through statistics that children who study an instrument have greater chances for academic and personal successes and are less likely to get involved with illegal or illicit activities. I am also stressing school should be the number one priority for my school age students.
I have over 30 years of experience playing drums in school band, orchestra, marching band, concert settings, recording sessions, festivals, live performances, television, and radio and more. I currently play percussion for the band GrooveSession a regional act that tours Nationally, and am professionally endorsed by Tycoon Percussion, SKB cases, and The Drum Wallet. I play drum set in many styles and accompany musicians in most popular genres on percussion. I can teach you both!
Musication Labs offer various programs to help bridge the gap between music and education. There is an ever-increasing need for music education and student involvement in the arts. We sometimes partner with other organizations that also support music education and the advancement of music making. Musication Labs is currently working with the PMC to support their P.I.T.S. Program throughout Southern California.
Percussion in the Schools (P.I.T.S.) is a matching grant program with an emphasis on percussion instruments. This program is funded in part by the PMC (Percussion Marketing Council) to create more music makers. Our presenters travel to schools in underserved districts to work with different sized groups of students teaching various aspects of music. Topics include: music history, counting, reading, communicating, and working with others. Programs are customized to meet the needs of individual schools by using musical performances, examples, and interactions with students and staff.
After School Music Club - Group lessons are held after school once per week for up to 90 minutes on a monthly basis. We travel to qualifying schools to provide after school music lessons on Drums/Percussion, Guitar/Ukulele, or Understanding Music Fundamentals. Many school music programs are in dire need of support, and have already made drastic cuts their music and band programs. Our mission is to create opportunities for music education to youth in undeserved areas.
